Category A1 Rules For Motorcyclists

The rules for category a1 are applicable to those who want to operate small motorcycles. These motorcycles have cylinder capacity of up to 35kW. They cannot be derived directly from vehicles that have more than twice their power.

A1

Candidates for an A1 license must have at minimum 16 years of experience on two-wheeled motor vehicles. They must also have completed the compulsory basic training and have passed the theory test and practical test. In addition, they must possess a valid medical certificate.

A1 license holders are allowed to drive mopeds that have an engine capacity of not more than 1250cc, and a power-to-weight ratio of no more than 0.01 kW/kg. They can also drive motorcycles with an cylinder capacity of not more than 125 cc, as well as quad bikes and trikes.

The A1 and A2 categories can help you become a safe and confident motorcyclist. This exam is designed to allow the remote pilot to assess their knowledge of the technical and operation mitigations that address the additional dangers associated with flying bigger drones (class A2, below 4kg mass) close to people. The certificate of ability to fly Category A2 is given upon successful completion of the test.

Due to the lack of certified drones in this category There are transitional arrangements that permit non-certified 'legacy drones to operate in categories A1 and A2 for a period of two years following the new EU regulations are in effect. Legacy drones may not be flown over the heads of people and must be operated by an A2 CofC.

To operate a drone in this category, you must first complete the online test for identification of flyers and then take a theoretical exam. You must also declare that you have some real-world understanding of your drone and then submit a written proof of competence. These requirements are similar in nature to the driving license model which means that drivers who first get their licence for a vehicle in a lower category is then able to move on to an upper category.

A4

The DOH is currently preparing guidelines for category A4. These guidelines will be in line with other operations and will include information such as the number of dressings changed every day. They will be presented to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infections (IATF-EID) and the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group. The IATF-EID and the DOH-National Immunization Technical Advisory Group will examine and approve the guidelines prior to being finalized.

In this category, drones with the class identification labels C0 and C1 are able to fly within a minimum distance of 50 metres of people who are not involved. This is a category with low risk, but strict precautions are required to reduce incidents. Drones classified as A1 or A2 must be able to pass an additional theoretical test before they can operate in this subcategory.

This test is designed to assess the level of knowledge about the dangers of flying drones close to people. The successful completion of the test will result in a certificate of competence for this subcategory. The operator must also keep at least 30 metres from an person who is not involved or 5 metres if flying in slow flight mode.
